Copyright infringement is the act of exercising, without permission or legal authority, one or more of the exclusive rights granted to the copyright owner under section 106 of the Copyright Act (Title 17 of the United States Code). These rights include the right to reproduce or distribute a copyrighted work. In the file-sharing context, downloading or uploading substantial parts of a copyrighted work without authority constitutes an infringement. Penalties for copyright infringement include civil and criminal penalties. In general, anyone found liable for civil copyright infringement may be ordered to pay either actual damages or :statutory damages affixed at not less than $750 and not more than $30,000 per work infringed. For "Willful" infringement, a court may award up to $150,000 per work infringed. A court can, in its discretion, also assess costs and attorneys' fees. Sebring prohibits unauthorized distribution of any copyrighted materials, copied, downloaded or uploaded. Anyone guilty of violation is subject to disciplinary action from suspension, termination and or legal prosecution.
CAMPUS CRIME REPORT
We are please to report that ther have been no instances of any crime of any type at either the Huntsville or the Houston Campus locations. (INSIDE THE CAMPUS, ON CAMPUS GROUNDS OR ADJACENT AREAS LOCATED NEXT TO CAMPUS LOCATIONS) A copy of the full report is available upon request at the campus location you wish to enroll in. Please see the Admissions Director for this request.
Procedure For Handling Grievances/COmplaints
If you have a grievance/complaint, you must follow the steps outlined below:
a. Student's discuss the matter with your assigned instructor. (Your Instructor can resolve most common issues)
b. If your Instructor is unable to resolve the matter, she/he will contact the Dean of Instructor's for resolution.
c. If the Dean of Instructor's is unable to resolve the matter, he/she will contact the Director for resolution.
d. The Director will make every effort to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. For matters regarding any allegations of sexual misconduct or CIvil Rights violations, the Director will contact the Title IX Coordinator After investigating any allegations, if there is sufficient evidence to sustain said allegations, the individual will be delt with immediately. Any student or staff member found guilty of the violation will be terminated immediately. Local authorities may be contacted and any relevent charges will be filed. The institution will in that event seek full prosecution of the guilty party. In cases where the guilty party is a visitor or customer, the local authorities will be contacted immediately. Discrimination any any form towards any individual is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. At Sebring we pride ourselves on providing our Staff, Students and Visitor's with a Safe environment. We take all matters very seriously. (If any individual files a false claim against another individual and it is determined to be false, said individual will be delt with immediately. This may involve Suspension, Termination or charges filed against the individual making the false allegations.and the Title IX Coordinator will investigate the matter and resolve the matter as quickly as possible.
e. If you do not agree with the decision of the Director or the Title IX Coordinator, you may Appeal the decision in writing to have the Director schedule an appointment with the institution's C.E.O. All decisions of the C.E.O. are final. You written request for appeal must be in writing and received by the school Director within 24 hours.
